Hello Nation Builder,
It’s great to come your way again this week!
In the last volume, we discussed the Power of Vision in Marriage and how marriage is a purpose-driven union that contributes to the greater good of society.
Today’s topic brings to mind a vital statement made by our guest on the monthly show:
“When the marriage is stable, the family is stable. When the family is stable, the society, and ultimately the nation, will be stable.” Dr. Kemi Oyedepo.
Your marriage and family are the first institutions over which you have the most direct control. This is why, as nation builders, we must pay attention to our home front. Here are some ways to ensure that your marriage plays a part in shaping the nation:
- Ruling Your Home by God’s Word
“Therefore, everyone who hears what I say and obeys it will be like a wise person who built a house on rock. Rain poured, and floods came. Winds blew and beat against that house. But it did not collapse, because its foundation was on rock.” – Matthew 7:24-25 CEB
To have a family that positively affects the nation, you must build your home on the sure foundation of God’s Word, or the decay we see in society may creep in unnoticed. The first way to ensure that your home does not contribute to negative statistics is to run your home by the timeless values of God’s Word-such as love, integrity, honesty, and uprightness. It is also important to keep seeking relevant knowledge because you can never act beyond what you know. Be determined to have a home that will glorify God and make a meaningful impact on society.
- Prayers
“Keep awake and watch and pray [constantly], that you may not enter into temptation; the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”- Mark 14:38 AMP
One powerful way to seek God’s intervention in your marriage is through prayer. It is also a way to keep the enemy of godly marriages at bay. Pray over every aspect of your home – your spouse, children, decisions, and daily interactions. When God’s presence saturates your home through prayer, you’ll see His wisdom guide your actions and choices. Additionally, praying regularly with your spouse strengthens your bond, and gives the enemy no room to invade your home.
Task for the week:
Set aside time for regular prayer and study of the Word in your home. Do your best to ensure that everyone abides by this. If you’re still single, make this your practice so it becomes part of your daily culture before marriage.
David Oyedepo Jnr.
