Mentorship and Impact
Dear Nation Builder,
Happy new week!
I trust you’re thriving and walking in purpose.
At our July Conversation, Pastor David Ekwueme shared powerful insights on ministry, mentorship, and nation-building—not just as abstract concepts, but as personal responsibilities in God’s kingdom agenda.
Let’s reflect on some of these insights:
1. Mentorship is about having a good example to follow – Pastor Ekwueme
“This is so you won’t be lazy but follow the example of the ones who inherit the promises through faith and patience.” — Hebrews 6:12 (CEB)
This scripture reminds us that mentorship is deeply rooted in followership. You’re not just observing a person but following in their footsteps with faith and patience.
Hence true mentorship calls for:
– Humility: Be open to correction and view it as a gateway to elevation.
– Access/ Connection: While virtual mentors are good, you also need people you can see, ask questions, and learn from. Their presence sharpens your growth in real time.
– Intentionality: You won’t stumble into God’s plan by accident. You must pursue clarity about His purpose for your life—and mentorship is one way God brings that clarity.
Like I shared, “There’s always someone around whom God can use to help you grow at each point of your journey.”
Take a moment to think about who God has placed around you for such a time as this.
2. Mentorship is not a fancy experience—its purpose is to stretch you so your capacity can grow – Pst David Oyedepo Jnr.
Many desire great impact, but few embrace the stretching that greatness demands. Our reference scripture reminds us that the purpose of mentorship involves diligence, not laziness. The essence of mentorship is not just to admire a figure; it’s to follow, submit, and evolve under godly influence.
Task for the Week
Identify someone in your environment (church, workplace, etc) and intentionally seek their wisdom or guidance. A simple insight or short meeting can open doors to transformation.
