Enterprise and Nation Building (Conclusion)

Dear Nation Builder,

I trust you are well.

It is my joy to welcome you to the month of August. I believe this month has great things in store for you and yours. Throughout July, we explored the interesting subject of Enterprise and Nation Building. We began by explaining that since not all of us can be in positions of governance, enterprise is a primary way through which we contribute to nation-building. We become channels of blessings to others through the work of our hands.

We also discussed several hindrances to enterprise, such as lack of capital, indiscipline, get-rich-quick schemes, etc., and how to overcome them.

As we wrap up this series, I’d like to remind us of two foundational qualities that are vital in business: integrity and skillfulness.

“So he shepherded them according to the integrity of his heart, and guided them by the skillfulness of his hands.” (Psalms 78:72 NKJV)

The above verse points to the importance of integrity and skill in any assignment one has to carry out. According to the Oxford Dictionary, integrity refers to the quality or condition of being complete, trustworthy, or the ability to keep one’s word. While skillfulness, refers to the state or quality of being proficient or skillful.

Integrity and skillfulness are non-negotiable traits for success in the world of business and enterprise, especially when it comes to seeking investors and partners in your business. You need to have a track record of skillfulness and resourcefulness in what you do, as well as integrity in your dealings.

This is what helps you build trust and attract the right people to help you succeed. I look forward to an interesting time with you at the August edition of the Builders Connect Conversation, where we’ll delve deeper into topics that will equip you for nation-building.

Remain blessed,

David Oyedepo Jnr.
